The puppies turned 2 weeks old on Dec. 22. They all have their eyes open and are a hardy bunch. We had a tough time doing the body shots because the puppies were so active! Here are the latest photos:
Our apologies for taking so long to post new info. First I was sick with the flu and then an upper respiratory infection, and then Kim caught a horrible stomach flu. We think we are all healthy now, and updates should come more consistently.
The babies are getting bigger by the day. Fiona is being a great Mom. Here are the 1 week photos. Don't have any weights though. I am going over to Kim's house today to take 2 week photos so those should be up fairly soon. The puppies should be opening their eyes any day!
The babies are here!! ALL SEVEN OF THEM!!! Born between 9:45am and 12:16pm yesterday morning. Fiona popped the first five puppies out quickly and efficiently. Poor Kim was home with Cory (almost 4), Tristan and Keira (almost 9 month old twins), trying to juggle them AND playing midwife to Fiona! When I received her call at 10:15am she already had 3 puppies. By the time I got there half an hour later there were a total of 5 puppies! Fiona then took a nice long rest and didn't produce the last 2 babies until just after noon. All the puppies are between 8.5 oz and 10.5 oz. Two boys and 5 girls! Very spunky and thriving. This is Fiona's first litter, and at first she didn't have a clue what to do with those things popping out of her. But by the time the last one was born she had figured it all out. When I left at about 1:30pm the babies were nursing really well and mom was sleeping. Between all the birthing commotion Kim managed to get Cory off to school and the twins fed and put down for a nap. Keira definitely seemed interested in what was going on in the puppy nursery. We are encouraging the next generation of breeders in a big way!
We took photos of the babies, and they will be posted shortly.
